Your Class & Individual Legacy

While discussing what's important to succeed in high school with the freshman, the word legacy came up. 'What legacy will you leave behind? What legacy will the Class of 2019 leave behind' were a few of the questions posed to the class.

Ask yourself that question, 'what legacy will YOU leave behind?', 'what will YOU be known for long after you leave NVAS, NHS and maybe even the city of Norway?' How about your class? What will they be known for? Will they be the class everybody in the school and community couldn't wait to leave? Or will they be the class that teachers, administrators, community members and professionals will want to make connections with, work with, succeed with? Why would that be important?

Everybody Dies But Not Everybody Lives

Everybody dies but not everybody lives. I believe this statement to be SO TRUE. I see people all around me afraid to take risks or do what they want to do simply from fear or doubt.

Watch the video posted to the left. After watching the video, write in your journal for five minutes minimum answering the following questions:

Do you agree or disagree with the video's statement?
Do you feel like the kind of person who 'lives' or one who is filled with 'doubt'?
When he discusses 'kinda' he is talking about complacency. What is complacency? Do you have it? Do you see it in others?
What can you do to take inspiration from this video and do more with your life?

What is Lean?

Teachers visited Systems Control yesterday as part of a Professional Development Session. First visit their site and look around. This is a very productive and interesting business right in our area! The most difficult thing to do in their business, they stated, is to find reliable employees. They have trouble filling jobs! It would be an excellent place to work.

One of the most interesting concepts they discussed was that of LEAN. What is the LEAN method of manufacturing? Do some Google research to discover what LEAN means.

What does LEAN mean? Why would a company such as this one want to be LEAN? What company came up with the idea of LEAN? What company does it best according to your research? Do you tend to work at things with this idea in mind or do you tend to waste? Waste money, waste time, waste resources?

Write about this topic for five minutes minimum.
