As you all probably know, whether to allow or not allow social media in schools is a major discussion taking place in education today. As a matter of fact, it is one of the topics that I am presenting on today at UP MACUL (See my session descriptions here: http://jleiker.weebly.com/up-macul.html). As a student who attends a progressive school who is attempting to #TeachNotBlock, please post your thoughts in your journal today (for five minutes minimum) on how social media can be good to open up to students. In what ways has social media been good for you this year on school projects, learning about school cancellations and staying informed of events and happenings at school. Are your teachers using edmodo? This too is a social networking platform. Include your use of edmodo in school in your discussion. If you are on Twitter or facebook, also post your thoughts - if you have excellent points to make - today and use the hashtags #TeachNotBlock, #leikerclass & #UPMACUL14. I will be watching Twitter today to see your posts. You may be featured in my sessions today.
