Jacqueline LaBerge (Leiker)"Trust men and they will be true to you; treat them greatly, and they will show themselves great." — Ralph Waldo Emerson
As a teacher passionate about teaching technology in the 1:1 environment at the School District of Bonduel, a computer science facilitator with Code.org and a part time instructor at Michigan Virtual, I strive to play a part in the revolution taking place in #EdTech, #coding and all things technology related. I am a huge advocate of #TeachNotBlock in schools and believe we should be promoting, using, and teaching students to use social media correctly instead of blocking it. I have taught many different courses in my teaching career including Advanced Placement Computer Science Principles, Computer Science Discoveries, Digital Technologies for the 21st Century/DT-21, Microcomputers, Computer Basics, Visual Basic, Personal Finance/Accounting, Graphic Design, Multimedia, Tech Integration & Applications, Middle School Technology and Elementary Tech Ed courses as well as nearly every mathematics course including Calculus, Advanced Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Statistics, Mathematics in the Workplace and Basic Math. This spring I earned the College Board AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award, I also recently applied for and earned the Kodable for Everyone award and won the MEEMIC 10,000-dollar classroom makeover grant! I'm super excited to be a Code.org facilitator for AP CSP and for Computer Science Discoveries as well. I've been honored to receive the Golden Apple Teacher of the Year & Teacher of Distinction Awards as well as state runner up for MACUL Outstanding Technology Using Educator, the Outstanding Person in Education & an NHS Teacher of the Year. I have been a blogger for remind (Cell Phones in the Classroom) and have been a featured educator at Naiku (http://www.naiku.net/blog/) and teach LTU graduate technology courses for educators. I have been a cheerleading coach for nearly all my years of teaching and have also been a competitive cheer judge including at Appleton North! I have also done some work teaching community tech ed. I enjoy weightlifting, water & snow skiing, mountain biking, backpacking, skating & have been sky diving! I enjoy watching sports, especially football & am an avid Green Bay Packers fan who was able to attend Super Bowl XLV! I have two daughters - Katie who is currently at the University of Central Florida in Oveido (Orlando), Florida and Gabrielle who will just be starting at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
