I have always adored this quote. To me, the internet really makes this statement more clear than ever. In my vision of the future world, our elementary students will learn that there is nothing they can't do or learn with the power of the internet and the attitude that nobody can stop them from their goals. They should exist in a world where nobody can make them feel stupid because learning is available to them anyplace and anytime and it is in their control to learn what they would like to learn. Coming from a family whose parents didn't attend college, I often felt like I was underestimated by teachers and others who figured that since my parents didn't go to college, neither would I. I don't blame them for their thinking but I don't want anybody else to feel the same. It's all about attitude and what you want in life. Especially with the ability to search anything and have so much education free online.
