Excellent Quotes on Flipped/Shifted:
Brian Bennett - The Flipped Classroom is a mindset, not a method.
Aaron Sams - There is no such thing as THE flipped classroom.
Ramsey Musallam - “There is no pedagogy, technology or technique that is a silver bullet or the independent variable for good teaching. . . No technology can make the honor of being a teacher an easier thing. Techniques, pedagogies, etc. can make what we do more efficient, but only if we first, through hours and hours of sweat, empathy and failure, work towards a system that transcends technology.”
Brett Clarke - “Flipping the classroom is not the answer to solving all of the flaws in our education system. However, neither is doing nothing and continuing on like nothing is wrong.”
Aaron and Brian - “Ultimately, flipped learning is not about flipping the 'when and where' instruction is delivered; it's about flipping the attention away from the teacher and toward the learner.”
Paul Andersen - “The teacher is the most important part of a functioning classroom . . . Just because you create videos doesn’t mean you are teaching them . . . ‘teacher’ implies learning and if you are not getting learning you’re not a teacher, you’re simply at ‘talker’.”
Levels of flipping: 1. review & remediation (content 'filter' & curator and/or digital 'face of your classroom'), 2. flipping - same considerations as review, model, model, model & potty training on how to watch a video and demonstrate understanding in class before doing it alone and accountability to demonstrate learning vs. playing the game...how do they ask questions as they go? email the teacher? forums? chats? 3. phase 3 - mastery - same considerations as first 2 but daily choices with weekly goals, layered curriculum (help4teachers.com), assessment and moving on, tracking progress and grading.

- Why might it be better to term the 'Flipped Classroom' the 'Shifted Classroom'?
- What are the benefits of 'Flipping'?
- How can I teach when I am absent? How can I participate in the 'Flipping' of my classroom?
- What resources can I use to 'flip' the classroom (Khan Academy/YouTube/TeacherTube/etc.)?
- Why 'flipped' learning is SO MUCH MORE than just what you think or have heard (watching at home/working in class).
- What is Screencasting and how can I create them? (TEAMS, Zoom, Adobe, OBS Studio, Jing, Camtasia, Explain Everything, Educreation, ShowMe)
- The Benefits: Increased student-teacher time, stronger student-teacher relationships, students work at adaptable pace, portable learning, one on one learning

PowerSchool/PowerTeacher Features You Didn't Know Could Help You
Why is PowerSchool such a powerful program for schools? There is the instant access to grades for parents, the portable device apps and attendance feature but this powerful program can do so much more. Why 1 to 1 is Good for Schools?
Why is 1 to 1 technology good for schools and why are schools adopting policies to include it? Because not only research but students, parents and TEACHERS are RAVING about it once they adapt it to their own classroom environment. Online texbooks that can include video, screencasting and other proven instructionals, and online graphing calculators are only the BEGINNING. Flipping the classroom provides for natural UDL or Universal Design for Learning which allows students to learn at their own pace with repeated exposure to concepts they do not understand the first time around. In addition, PBL or Project Based Learning is EASY when technology becomes involved and students, teachers, classrooms and schools are connected to the WORLD. Edmodo, Quizlet, Voicethread, Moodle, TED, the Flipped Classroom, Socrative, TurnItIn, Remind101, Screencasting and many more free Web 2.0 tools can revolutionize education as we know it. Why is 1 to 1 good for schools? Why is it NOT good for schools will be the questions you will ask after attending this session.
